Dove Home Care has held Investors in people Award since January 2002.  We believe that to give care and support of the highest quality, we need our staff to be trained and motivated to the highest level.  This we have achieved with excellent comments by our Assessors at each assessment every three years. We can give you a little snap shot of what achieving this award recognition has meant to us as a company and to our staff

2005 Inspection

“Staff say that they feel well informed and involved with the company’s plans and believe that the proprietor and care manager are implementing a well-planned and carefully thought-out plan for the business” The owner, care manager and deputy maintain excellent relationships with all staff and take steps to involve all people in the plans for the future of the agency.  The owner readily discusses her vision for the company and, with the management team, takes steps to ensure its steady growth and financial viability plus its adherence to relevant legislation. Managers carry out quarterly supervision meetings with all staff at all levels, and an annual appraisal.  Managers and staff regularly participate in all legislatively required training and all other training is geared towards supporting carers and clients.

All staff speak positively about the opportunities given to all people.  The deputy maintains detailed records of who has done what and managers, via supervisions and “coffee mornings” involve staff in identifying further, useful training.  People are very supportive of their colleagues. Just a small sample of this very positive report.

2012 Investors In People Report

Staff interviewed spoke positively about their managers and the fact that they feel listened too….. People feel massively supported by managers and were highly complimentary about the way they were made to feel valued and treated fairly and with respect.  The latter is a real strength of the Agency’s culture that managers should aim to capitalize on. Everyone is encouraged to share in the responsibilities for decision making, with carers having particularly high levels of autonomy and responsibility.  Managers proactively encourage people to adopt such responsibilities and those interviewed repeatedly described how they were encouraged to take ownership in their day-to-day roles.

We employ our staff and they currently number between 80 and 100, so you can imagine the cost involved in training and developing them.  We continue with holding the IIP Award as a benchmark to measure our competence in training and developing our staff.
